Growing up in the sixties and seventies, I was fascinated by science and technology, closely following developments in computers. Turning a mainframe punch card over in my hands, I marveled at the digital world, but we were still a long way from the personal computer.

I got my first glimpse of the wonderful possibilities of Macintosh in 1985; a friend of mine had shelled out a whopping three grand for an early model that boasted a stunning half-megabyte of RAM. And, hey, who needed a hard drive back then?

Being inclined towards typography and graphic design, I was immediately won over by a machine that offered such a friendly interface, with black characters on a white screen and WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) printing in a whole range of fonts. This was a far cry from those clunky PCs with their fluorescent green-on-black displays, and their boring single typeface churned out on continuous feed paper.

I knew right away that the Mac was the kind of computer I wanted: one that provided a more human-centered approach. Apple was right to call it "a computer for the rest of us."

I first had the opportunity to work with a Macintosh in 1988, doing desktop publishing on a Mac Plus and an early LaserWriter printer. When Apple introduced the more affordable Mac Classic in 1990, I pounced and purchased my very own. Since then, I've owned and loved a Mac Classic II, Centris 660AV, Power Mac 8600, Power Mac G4, and an iBook -- and have worked with most other Mac models.

While I started out as a designer for print and the Web, being a Macintosh support provider gives me an opportunity to blend several of my interests and skills. I’m passionate about "mediating" between people and computers, helping my clients to get the most from their Mac. There’s nothing like seeing a person’s eyes light up when they say, "I didn’t know I could do that!"
