KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
I highly recommend reviewing the following lists, and printing one or more of them for handy reference near your Mac. Time spent learning keyboard shortcuts is a great investment, because you'll save yourself countless hours otherwise spent reaching for the mouse!
Dan Rodney's Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts -- An amazingly comprehensive list, presented in an easy-to-read format.
Mac OS X Leopard: 200+ Productivity Booster Keyboard Shortcuts -- Another fantastic list, also covering shortcuts for specific software applications.
Magical Macintosh Key Sequences -- Less comprehensive, but still very useful.
Apple’s official list -- Not very long, but worth a glance.
Safari keyboard shortcuts -- PDF of a page from Safari's built-in help.
NEWS AND INFORMATION SITES
MacInTouch -- Good mix of timely, relevant, concise, informative reporting.
Macworld -- A great complement to MacInTouch, providing updates throughout the day.
MacSurfer -- The best list of Mac links on the Web; updated throughout the day.
MacFixIt -- One of the top troubleshooting sites, where you may find crucial information to help with your Mac problems.
TidBITS -- A venerable source that's been around for many, many years. In-depth reporting, analysis and reviews of Mac products and trends.
Apple Support -- This is comprehensive information from the very source. If you've just purchased a new Mac, you get 90 days of complimentary telephone support, which can make all the difference if you're experiencing problems. Call 800.275.2273 to speak to a technician.
BOOKS & VIDEOS
If you're self-motivated, working with a book or video can be a fantastic way to develop your Mac skills. These third-party materials are often superior to the manuals from Apple and software manufacturers.
Peachpit Press -- A shining beacon for Mac users, this publishing house features scads of well-written, engaging, copiously illustrated books on all major Mac applications. I consider the cream of the crop to be its Visual QuickStart and Visual QuickPro Series, the embodiment of user-friendly documentation. If only software makers were this good!
Take Control Ebooks -- What a great concept: instead of thick, all-encompassing encyclopedias, these folks offer small & inexpensive booklets focused on one topic for quick reading, either on the screen as a PDF, or printed out.
Lynda.com -- Hundreds of excellent training videos, available on DVD or for online viewing.
