Fixes problems and teaches techniques
Should you be confronted with a problem with an Apple product, I strongly encourage you to call on Ronald Gehrmann at Metro MacSupport. He is knowledgeable, efficient, reassuring, and kind. After my old MacBook Pro died, Ronald worked with me remotely to get data from my obsolete Time Capsule onto a new iMac. Not only was the data restored, but getting there revealed that Ronald clearly enjoys problem solving, and his enthusiasm made the process fun. I know I can rely on Ronald not only to help me right whatever might go wrong with my Apple devices but also to teach me how to use them better.

Ronald Gehrmann is a Photos and general Mac help lifesaver! I have 18 years’ worth of digital photos stashed across generations of old iMacs, MacBooks, CDs and external drives, in iPhoto, Photos, and scans. More than 50 thousand images, including countless duplicates and modified images. I despaired of ever retrieving and organizing these precious images.
Ronald to the rescue! This pleasant gentleman showed up at my house and went right to work. He knew exactly what he was doing, having done exactly this kind of project many times before.
Here is what he did for me:
• Tracked down and merged into a single Photos library (on my iMac and in iCloud) images from multiple sources while eliminating most of the duplicates,
• Gave helpful advice about identifying and deleting unwanted images,
• Set up my iMac and two laptops to be in synch, set up my laptops so I have access to docs and images on my desktop,
• Installed and trained me to use a password manager,
• Installed and trained me to use Dropbox,
• Showed me how to customize my Apple Watch,
• Answered innumerable questions,
• Provided innumerable tips and shortcuts.
He is an excellent multitasker, and all download time was filled with solving problems for me and providing me with tips and training that make my life more efficient.
He will come to your house, but he also has a remote log-in service that is seamlesss and very effective, with the ability to log into and remotely control multiple devices and monitors.
In short, he was efficient, competent, friendly but very professional, and provided very high value for his time. I highly recommend him to Mac users.

Personable, knowledgeable and an excellent teacher
We worked with Ronald recently as we upgraded our iPhones (7 Plus) to iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. Ronald made the entire experience effortless. His explanations are clear and concise. I have used Ronald’s computer consulting services several times and am always thrilled with the results. Excellent help especially in a crisis
Ron has helped me and my husband together for over 3 years with my computer, iPad, and iPhone issues. He is our go to guy. After meeting with him personally he has successfully solved all the issues we have been able to throw at him through screen sharing. Outstanding Apple consultant!
Simply put – Ronald Gehrmann is a true find and an absolute pleasure to work with. For the past couple of years, he has been THE go-to guy for both my husband and me for anything and everything Mac. My husband discovered Ronald when he was looking online for photography related software support. Within a few short sessions, Ronald had solved many problems and cleaned up a ton of documents, etc. My husband was sold! Subsequently, I have reached out on a couple of occasions with several issues and glitches. Weight off my shoulders
Thanks for all your help moving my catalog off my MacBook Pro on to an external hard drive and cleaning up most of my loose ends in the process. This was long overdue and something that I was avoiding. I’m only just so savvy with both Lightroom and Macintosh. Lifesaver with Adobe Lightroom!
I started using Adobe Lightroom several years ago, without any training or clue how to use it properly. When it came to editing my photos in the program, I was fine. But I struggled in a huge way with organization and cataloging of all my photos. It was never clear to me what the best way forward was, and as a result, my system got very messy very fast. I found Ronald through an ad on Craigslist, and over the next couple months, we met remotely to help get me organized. What we discovered were nearly two dozen separate catalogs (many of them long forgotten by me), spread over about five different computers and backup drives. Through careful explanation and some amazing investigation into the nonsensical parts of my brain, Ronald was able to help me construct three distinct catalogs that fully cover the components of my photographic life, and then organize all my photos into those catalogs. The education I got throughout the process was invaluable, and his patience and humor during our sessions was hugely appreciated. My dumb questions, it turns out, weren’t so dumb, and learning the reasoning behind many of Lightroom’s tools and features has greatly improved my workflow. Lightroom has always been my favorite photo-editing software, but my ignorance of its organizational structure hampered my work for years. With everything I learned through working with Ronald, I am a much more confident now and truly feel like I know what I’m doing. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for Adobe or Mac guidance.

Life Changing
I had upgraded my MacBook Air to a MacBook Pro. I had no idea how to transfer everything from my old laptop to the new one. I made an appointment with Ronald for help. We chatted on the phone first to review my goals, and exactly what I needed to get there. Turned out I was going to need some extra equipment to make it all happen. Ronald was able to give me some suggestions on an external hard drive and cords. I got both of those, and then we had another phone call where he walked me through how to get everything from the old laptop over on to the hard drive, and then over to the new laptop. This saved us a lot of time (and money) that didn’t have to be wasted when we had our actual appointment.
Ronald called right on time, and we jumped right in. I had already admitted that I am really not good with computers so he knew what he was getting into. Right from the beginning, he was patient, used easy to understand language, and often paused for questions and understanding. It made a huge difference to be able to keep up with what was happening, and do some note taking. He expertly tailored his coaching as we went along. I do have some knowledge and familiarity with a lot of things, so Ronald knew when he could pick up the pace. But then he would immediately slow down when it was clear I needed help. He gave me a great tour of my new laptop and showed me things I am certain I would have never have known I can do.
We reviewed how to back up and why. Apparently this is important, but something I never did…One of my main goals was to organize my photos. I had them everywhere. Google, Amazon, an old hard drive, my phone, and on the old laptop. We methodically went through them all one by one, and got them all on the computer. He showed me how to organize and clean up everything. We reviewed some great tools to enhance the photos, make slide shows, everything I have wanted to do for years but could never figure out. This part was truly a revelation. Photos are very important to me, but after years of total disorganization, I lost interest and it just became a frustration. Now, it’s a joy, and it’s become a fun hobby to organize, archive and make projects. We also reviewed iTunes so I could make the best use of that. Yes, I still use an iPod. Don’t judge…
We then went over how to clean out and maintain my computer. I was terrible about deleting old downloads etc and he shared great ideas to maintain a clean computer, thus saving a lot of memory. I now even backup regularly! A few weeks later, I switched from Android to iPhone and had another appointment with Ronald. He helped me learn about how to make the phone and computer “talk”. It was amazing. I really never realized what a difference it makes to have separate devices, but have them all integrated. He even showed me how to make the most of linking my laptop to my Apple TV. That's been great for showing photos on the TV. I never thought I would be able to understand how to do all this.
But Ronald’s patience, and kind, “shame-free” approach to coaching made a huge difference. He was able to take the fear out of all this and dare I say it…made it fun. I was dreading having to face all this stuff, but I can honestly say, it was enjoyable, and I have a much clearer understanding of what I am doing. I highly recommend Ronald. He will forever be my “go to” guy for all things Apple. I only wish that I had sought his help sooner.

Invaluable!!
I have had the sincere pleasure of working with Ron for close to a year. While we have never actually met in person, our online communication has been flawless. In some ways, this works even better than in person because we are not both crowded around the same screen. Ron and I have worked on a number of photography/tech issues. I started making images without enough training in Lightroom workflow management. As hard drives filled up and new catalogs were created, keeping track of my work had become a disaster. Ron helped me consolidate and organize my thousands of images. He helped me create systems for importing and organizing my images going forward. His system of keywording is brilliant. I really wish I had instituted this system years ago. Ron has also helped me develop my website. We are working on a platform that has a Lightroom plug-in so I can do most of my website edits in Lightroom and simply hit “publish” to update my website. While this is a fantastic system, it was a little complex to set up but Ron patiently walked me through each step. He also made himself available for any panic moments! I highly recommend working with Ron. He is cheerful, prompt, patient and very, very capable!

Cruising the internet, I came upon an Apple consultant, Ronald Gehrmann. Being a Baby Boomer, my techno challenges have felt inhibiting to many of the things I wanted to explore - my writing and organization, my photos, down to the tiniest things such as email conundrums, creating a budget on the numbers app, yes even “cutting and pasting.” Once the “one on one” appointment options at the Apple Store were eliminated, getting individual help loomed beyond my ability to sort out. Ronald has been nothing short of a gold mine for me, service on site at my home and much of the time through a secure program in which I can allow him access to my computer screen which is terminated when we finish. Great experience with Apple Consultant
When I retired, I found myself using two poorly integrated hardware systems. To make matters worse, one was dated and unreliable. I engaged Ronald Gehrmann to help me migrate work and personal files from an old IBM Lenovo laptop and employer server to my new MacBook Pro. Ronald navigated a labyrinth of files and sub-files, created during my seventeen-year tenure with my former employer. He disposed of those that no longer had value and reorganized those that I wished to preserve. He installed security programs to protect my personal and financial information, hard drive and cloud-based back-up systems, and a spam filter. He then wiped the old computer clean so that I could return to my employer. I went from chaos to calm. I can now access whatever I need with a few keyboard clicks, including all correspondence, narratives, slide presentations, spreadsheets, music, and photographs. For over seven years now Ronald has been guiding me in the use of my computers iMac, iPhone, and related devices. We’ve never met in person -- I’m in Rhode Island, and he’s in Oregon, but thanks to screen sharing it’s easy to work with him as if we were sitting together at my desk. With his help I have a working knowledge of the Word, InDesign, and Photoshop programs. Sometimes, I learn as I watch the cursor, controlled by Ronald, zoom around the screen, opening windows, clicking, and dragging as he explains a procedure. He has recorded some of these in audio and video, and left them on my Desktop, available for review. More recently he has been working with me on projects that require all three programs together. For example, we are now putting together a book of my illustrated writings. In addition, when any kind of glitch occurs, Ronald quickly diagnoses the problem and finds a solution. Ronald has deep knowledge of computers and their human users -- no other resource comes close. He has been an essential resource not only by guiding me through programs and projects but by keeping me and my devices organized and functioning.

My Mac is new again!
This is the very 1st time I have written a critique of someone and their services. Ronald was my computer guy when he lived in NY. Sad for me when he left but he assured me he could remotely take care of my computer needs. I find it amazing, but he truly does that. A 10-year love affair
We like our Mac. In fact, so much that we have had it for over 10 years. Both my wife and I admittedly are computer illiterate. So, when we first purchased the Mac we asked Apple to suggest someone to help. Thus started our love affair with Ron Gehrmann. Not only did he set us up with everything we needed, but explained in layman’s terms how everything worked and why we needed what. No matter what the problem(s), (usually caused by us), Ron was quick to respond and quickly set us straight. We were concerned when he moved to Portland, Oregon two years ago but find there is no interruption in his service when using a remote screen sharing program. In fact, just earlier in the week he was able to undo a mess caused by my 19-month-old grand son who decided his new favorite toy was my keyboard. I think Ron really takes pride in keeping the old machine perking away. We cannot thank Ron enough for all the help and support he has given us over the many years.

That’s Ronald to a T and it’s how he has always been through the many years I’ve worked with him. I met Ronald through a recommendation from a business associate after having a bad experience with a tech guy who left my PC with tons of problems.
Ronald is, and always has been, on top of his game. I completely trust him, which I feel is a rare thing to say, when you’re putting expensive equipment into someone else’s hands. (I’ve seen some technicians make things worse as they go along and had to call them back over and over to redo what they were supposed to fix.) He does it right, keeps going until he’s sure it’ll work perfectly so you don’t have to call him back for the same problem. He’s a hardworking guy who does his best to make sure you’re happy each and every time.
I was further impressed when he helped me with my camera and photos. He never gave up, solving my problems step by step until everything worked beautifully – not to mention finding ways to reduce waste and save memory. I miss that I can’t have him over to the house to watch him do his magic but he’s a whiz at working remotely since he left NYC. Ronald tackles every problem with enthusiasm, he’s a got great sense of humor and is fun to work with; seriously, he’s a fun tech guy! Give him a try!

Ronald really knows his stuff!
I have complete confidence in his ability to solve any problem on my iMac. Plus, he has great "bedside manner." In other words, he has great empathy for his customers and knows how to treat them so they feel comfortable with from start to finish. Dreams come true!
I use everything Apple: iMac, MacBook, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple watch, Apple TV... I am comfortable with but cannot say I have complete command of any of these communications vehicles. Everyone in the family uses Apple exclusively. My daughter is proficient. My son-in-law worked at an Apple Store for 3 years.
But I've needed someone outside of the family to help me when I'm confounded and especially in emergencies. Applecare is great. The Genius Bar has often been invaluable. Most importantly finally I've finally found the guru I've so badly needed for years who works in my home setting. No dragging equipment to an Apple store or waiting in line on the phone.
Ronald came to my house once and learned about my devices in person. Now we work remotely. This week I needed assistance getting my iPhone ready for an extended vacation in Spain. Concerned with the 27,000 photos on my phone I wanted to be certain I would not run out of room while traveling. Suddenly a more important issue arose. While doing an everyday Lightroom procedure I inadvertently trashed my picture files and many non-contiguous photos "disappeared". I was scared, as was Ronald, that restoring the proper files would either be impossible or very difficult. However, in just a few minutes, using my back up hard drive as a model everything was copacetic. It was like my faux pas had never happened. It's wonderful to have a miracle maker on your team.

I could not be more impressed
Last weekend I thought I lost years of photos from my last two computers. I hadn't backed up properly and it seemed that I might have made a fatal mistake while trying to move thousands of photos to an external hard drive. I was crestfallen. I went about trying to find someone to help me, but I was "haunted" by memories of computer "experts" I had contracted in the past who would speed through something and charge a lot. A seamless changeover from PC to Mac
It’s been nearly a year since I bought my new Apple computer and hired Metro MacSupport to help me set up that new computer, take the old one down, get all the new software and programs up and running, set up the new hard drive for automatic file backups with Time Machine, and transfer bookmarks and files from my old one (which was a PC that was running XP—yes, a dinosaur in computing terms, I know, which goes to show you how averse I am to technological change) to the new one.
I’m not exactly computer-phobic, as I’ve been using computers since the early 1980s. I have my comfort-level limits, though. Yes, I might have been able to research and figure out how to do all of these things on my own, but I can guarantee you that I would have been tied up in knots with anxiety the whole time! Metro MacSupport was a voice of calm and confidence from the moment I contacted them with questions about changing over from PC to Mac and about what features and configuration I might want my new computer to have. They understood everything I wanted my new computer to be able to do and how I needed it to function for me, as a freelance writer and semi-professional genealogist, and for my family members who sometimes also use the computer.
The last time I’d purchased a new computer and hired someone to help me set it up, I’d had minor glitches of one kind or another occur for weeks afterward, so I anticipated this as being another big headache—but, with the help of Metro MacSupport, this time the process went WAY, WAY more smoothly than I had even hoped or expected that it would. In the months since they helped me get my new iMac up and running, I’ve had a few occasions to e-mail or call for further advice, and they’ve always been prompt, helpful and encouraging. It’s reassuring to know that, if I ever feel stuck or panicky about anything to do with my computer, I can call or e-mail Metro MacSupport and receive the help—and the reminder to stay calm—that I need!

Painless migration to Lightroom
Even though I am in London and Ronald is eight hours behind me in Oregon, working with him via Team Viewer and Skype was no problem at all; in fact using Team Viewer is much easier than having two people trying to work at the same desk, and with Ronald it was a pleasure. He managed my transition from Aperture to Lightroom in a masterly fashion, which I could never have done on my own, showed me all sorts of useful techniques in LR, particularly how to import photos, and also streamlined my file structures and backup process for the whole computer. He has kept in touch to make sure that all is working well which makes a big difference. The whole thing was very enjoyable and I am looking forward to working with him in the future.

I have been working with Ronald since January 2015. We have been working remotely using TeamViewer and Skype. Working remotely was much easier than I thought it would be, and has proven to be incredibly cost and time effective. Ronald helped me use iPhoto Library Manager to delete duplicate photos, upgrade my operating system to Yosemite, and set up Time Machine to backup to an external drive. Ronald also helped me migrate my photos from iPhoto to Lightroom. Thanks to Ronald's help, the migration from iPhoto to Lightroom was easier than I expected. Ronald is currently teaching me how to organize and edit my photos using Lightroom. Working with Ronald has been delightful. He is efficient, thorough, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. Where should I begin? I first began my working relationship with Ronald Gehrmann in 2003, when I decided to take that giant step of creating a website for my culinary tourism business. Calling Ronald proved to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Ronald made the mysterious process of designing a website far less daunting than I had imagined it would be. Efficient, patient, and easy-going, he took the time to explain things in a way that I could easily understand, without any intimidation factor as he guided me through the transition, and brought my business into the new Millennium. Not only was he indispensable in creating my website, Ronald also helped design the various printed materials that are a crucial part of my business. Over the years, Ronald has assisted me in countless ways, through several generations of Macs and iDevices, to advising me on the pros and cons of new equipment purchases; setting up new Macs, printers and network, and upgrading operating systems. Maintaining accurate customer data is a vital part of my business, and Ronald was a godsend in guiding me through the transfer of such data from my old application to Apple Contacts. With technology advancing at an alarming rate, Ronald’s expertise was key in keeping my data in sync with iCloud and Dropbox and in ensuring data backup with Time Machine. Tutoring as well as troubleshooting wherever and whenever necessary. I initially came to know Ronald after a friend found one of the websites he had helped design and suggested I call him. He was living in New Hampshire at the time, and later moved to New York. Now happily ensconced in Portland, Oregon, Ronald has shown that it doesn’t matter where he is physically — with TeamViewer for screen sharing and Skype for video and audio chat, it’s as if we’re sitting together here in my Boston office. Excellent teacher
Ronald has been saving me from a nervous breakdown since 2013, working first with MacBook Air, followed by iPhone, then iPad, Apple TV and printers. Ronald Gehrmann will not only save your bacon, he will save your sanity. He has done so, more than once, for me.
I am a reasonably sophisticated computer user (going back to the days when commands were strings of letters) but problems connected with the installation of a new wireless printer had me ready to return to a quill pen. A house call from Ronald made all things harmonious -- not only painlessly, but pleasantly. When he was here, he did more than link the printer to the network -- he added controls to both the computer and a tablet to make the printing go seamlessly. Along the way, he showed me how to do several useful things unrelated to the main goal.
Later he came to my rescue again -- this time remotely, taking over my computer with a program I had asked him to install -- to resurrect a printer that I use only to print high quality photographs. The whole setup now works painlessly. He also installed a recalcitrant app on my tablet by syncing it through the main computer.
Ronald knows an enormous amount, is a gifted teacher and a thorough professional, and is very pleasant company, whether in person or on the other end of a telephone line.

I’ve been working with Ronald for over two years. I was new to Apple MacBook Pro and with time I added other Apple products – iPad, iPhone and iPod.
For many folks of a certain age like me, the computer is an indomitable set of questions and a total fear that I will do something that will crash the computer and everything will be lost. Ronald has provided an immeasurable amount of help and support. He did the set up and the linking of all of my devices and printers. When I have a problem, he is always available in less than 24 hours whether in person, on the phone or with something called TeamViewer, which allows him to see what is happening on my computer in real time. He is patient and always willing to talk me through whatever questions or technology questions I have, and there are many. He has helped me to learn how to download music, movies and TV shows. He has also been patient when taking me through setting up files, organizing email files and troubleshooting when I do something really dumb.
Ronald was also incredibly helpful in helping me to create, set-up and maintain a website. No only did we do much of it together, much more on his part, but he also did much of it on his own time.
Ronald provides excellent hands-on learning, but is willing to repeat or find another way to explain something, just in case I didn’t get it the first time. Ronald is patient, accommodating, understanding, with a wonderful sense of humor. Ronald restored my sanity
For several months my experience with an old iMac, and recently a new iMac, has been an agonizing and frustrating one while attempting to complete a book I am writing. Perfect way of learning how to use your various Apple devices productively

I used to work with Ron in person when he was in Portsmouth NH 13 years ago. I now work with him remotely. I'm not very computer savvy and often need help. He is very patient.

It has been ten years since I first met and began to work with Ron. He has helped me build and maintain a website to showcase my photography using both Apple and Adobe products. It would be an understatement for me to say he’s a genius who knows his way around these products, and how to deal with the simple-minded mistakes I always seem to perplex myself with, but are a piece of cake for him to figure out.
In the years I have known him he has patiently guided me through computer hardware upgrades, operating system upgrades, and application upgrades, as well as helping me with data backup systems. He has patiently showed me how to use such programs as Photoshop, GoLive and Lightroom, and has helped me set them up in ways that save me time and worry, letting me concentrate on my photography skills.
When Ron lived in New Hampshire, he worked with me at my home, and though he moved to New York City in 2007, the ease with which we can work together despite the distance is amazing. With remote screen sharing software and with my permission he can view and control my computer while talking to me on Skype, leaving my hands free to work on my end as well. This way we have together solved dozens of problems I have gotten myself into over the years.
Ron’s willingness to help and genuine concern for, as well as respect for me and my passion for photography, makes him a one-of-a-kind asset who is absolutely an invaluable resource for me to call upon in need. Over the years he has become a friend as well, and that more than anything is important to me and gives me the peace of mind to pursue my own passion without the extensive technical knowledge I would otherwise have to acquire. Ronald came to the rescue when my entire Wifi system was down. He quickly evaluated the issue and resolved the multiple router, airport extreme and airport express problems with extraordinary speed. Ron works on site and has set up screen sharing which really saves time. He rescues me when there are immediate problems to solve and he can't physically be on site. He has helped me organize fonts and created back-up computer systems on external HDs that contain many large photographic files of great value. Ronald Gehrmann is a Photos and general Mac help lifesaver! I have 18 years’ worth of digital photos stashed across generations of old iMacs, MacBooks, CDs and external drives, in iPhoto, Photos, and scans. More than 50 thousand images, including countless duplicates and modified images. I despaired of ever retrieving and organizing these precious images.
Ronald to the rescue! This pleasant gentleman showed up at my house and went right to work. He knew exactly what he was doing, having done exactly this kind of project many times before.
Here is what he did for me:
• Tracked down and merged into a single Photos library (on my iMac and in iCloud) images from multiple sources while eliminating most of the duplicates,
• Gave helpful advice about identifying and deleting unwanted images,
• Set up my iMac and two laptops to be in synch, set up my laptops so I have access to docs and images on my desktop,
• Installed and trained me to use a password manager,
• Installed and trained me to use Dropbox,
• Showed me how to customize my Apple Watch,
• Answered innumerable questions,
• Provided innumerable tips and shortcuts.
He is an excellent multitasker, and all download time was filled with solving problems for me and providing me with tips and training that make my life more efficient.
He will come to your house, but he also has a remote log-in service that is seamlesss and very effective, with the ability to log into and remotely control multiple devices and monitors.

Lifesaver with Adobe Lightroom!
I started using Adobe Lightroom several years ago, without any training or clue how to use it properly. When it came to editing my photos in the program, I was fine. But I struggled in a huge way with organization and cataloging of all my photos. It was never clear to me what the best way forward was, and as a result, my system got very messy very fast. I found Ronald through an ad on Craigslist, and over the next couple months, we met remotely to help get me organized. What we discovered were nearly two dozen separate catalogs (many of them long forgotten by me), spread over about five different computers and backup drives. Through careful explanation and some amazing investigation into the nonsensical parts of my brain, Ronald was able to help me construct three distinct catalogs that fully cover the components of my photographic life, and then organize all my photos into those catalogs. The education I got throughout the process was invaluable, and his patience and humor during our sessions was hugely appreciated. My dumb questions, it turns out, weren’t so dumb, and learning the reasoning behind many of Lightroom’s tools and features has greatly improved my workflow. Lightroom has always been my favorite photo-editing software, but my ignorance of its organizational structure hampered my work for years. With everything I learned through working with Ronald, I am a much more confident now and truly feel like I know what I’m doing. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for Adobe or Mac guidance.

Life Changing
I had upgraded my MacBook Air to a MacBook Pro. I had no idea how to transfer everything from my old laptop to the new one. I made an appointment with Ronald for help. We chatted on the phone first to review my goals, and exactly what I needed to get there. Turned out I was going to need some extra equipment to make it all happen. Ronald was able to give me some suggestions on an external hard drive and cords. I got both of those, and then we had another phone call where he walked me through how to get everything from the old laptop over on to the hard drive, and then over to the new laptop. This saved us a lot of time (and money) that didn’t have to be wasted when we had our actual appointment.
Ronald called right on time, and we jumped right in. I had already admitted that I am really not good with computers so he knew what he was getting into. Right from the beginning, he was patient, used easy to understand language, and often paused for questions and understanding. It made a huge difference to be able to keep up with what was happening, and do some note taking. He expertly tailored his coaching as we went along. I do have some knowledge and familiarity with a lot of things, so Ronald knew when he could pick up the pace. But then he would immediately slow down when it was clear I needed help. He gave me a great tour of my new laptop and showed me things I am certain I would have never have known I can do.
We reviewed how to back up and why. Apparently this is important, but something I never did…One of my main goals was to organize my photos. I had them everywhere. Google, Amazon, an old hard drive, my phone, and on the old laptop. We methodically went through them all one by one, and got them all on the computer. He showed me how to organize and clean up everything. We reviewed some great tools to enhance the photos, make slide shows, everything I have wanted to do for years but could never figure out. This part was truly a revelation. Photos are very important to me, but after years of total disorganization, I lost interest and it just became a frustration. Now, it’s a joy, and it’s become a fun hobby to organize, archive and make projects. We also reviewed iTunes so I could make the best use of that. Yes, I still use an iPod. Don’t judge…
We then went over how to clean out and maintain my computer. I was terrible about deleting old downloads etc and he shared great ideas to maintain a clean computer, thus saving a lot of memory. I now even backup regularly! A few weeks later, I switched from Android to iPhone and had another appointment with Ronald. He helped me learn about how to make the phone and computer “talk”. It was amazing. I really never realized what a difference it makes to have separate devices, but have them all integrated. He even showed me how to make the most of linking my laptop to my Apple TV. That's been great for showing photos on the TV. I never thought I would be able to understand how to do all this.
But Ronald’s patience, and kind, “shame-free” approach to coaching made a huge difference. He was able to take the fear out of all this and dare I say it…made it fun. I was dreading having to face all this stuff, but I can honestly say, it was enjoyable, and I have a much clearer understanding of what I am doing. I highly recommend Ronald. He will forever be my “go to” guy for all things Apple. I only wish that I had sought his help sooner.

Invaluable!!
I have had the sincere pleasure of working with Ron for close to a year. While we have never actually met in person, our online communication has been flawless. In some ways, this works even better than in person because we are not both crowded around the same screen. Ron and I have worked on a number of photography/tech issues. I started making images without enough training in Lightroom workflow management. As hard drives filled up and new catalogs were created, keeping track of my work had become a disaster. Ron helped me consolidate and organize my thousands of images. He helped me create systems for importing and organizing my images going forward. His system of keywording is brilliant. I really wish I had instituted this system years ago. Ron has also helped me develop my website. We are working on a platform that has a Lightroom plug-in so I can do most of my website edits in Lightroom and simply hit “publish” to update my website. Cruising the internet, I came upon an Apple consultant, Ronald Gehrmann. Being a Baby Boomer, my techno challenges have felt inhibiting to many of the things I wanted to explore - my writing and organization, my photos, down to the tiniest things such as email conundrums, creating a budget on the numbers app, yes even “cutting and pasting.” Once the “one on one” appointment options at the Apple Store were eliminated, getting individual help loomed beyond my ability to sort out. Great experience with Apple Consultant
When I retired, I found myself using two poorly integrated hardware systems. To make matters worse, one was dated and unreliable. I engaged Ronald Gehrmann to help me migrate work and personal files from an old IBM Lenovo laptop and employer server to my new MacBook Pro. Ronald navigated a labyrinth of files and sub-files, created during my seventeen-year tenure with my former employer. He disposed of those that no longer had value and reorganized those that I wished to preserve. He installed security programs to protect my personal and financial information, hard drive and cloud-based back-up systems, and a spam filter. He then wiped the old computer clean so that I could return to my employer. I went from chaos to calm. I can now access whatever I need with a few keyboard clicks, including all correspondence, narratives, slide presentations, spreadsheets, music, and photographs. I have truly enjoyed working with Ronald. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. He also happens to be intelligent and funny. I give him my highest recommendation. For over seven years now Ronald has been guiding me in the use of my computers iMac, iPhone, and related devices. We’ve never met in person -- I’m in Rhode Island, and he’s in Oregon, but thanks to screen sharing it’s easy to work with him as if we were sitting together at my desk. With his help I have a working knowledge of the Word, InDesign, and Photoshop programs. Sometimes, I learn as I watch the cursor, controlled by Ronald, zoom around the screen, opening windows, clicking, and dragging as he explains a procedure. He has recorded some of these in audio and video, and left them on my Desktop, available for review. More recently he has been working with me on projects that require all three programs together. A 10-year love affair
We like our Mac. In fact, so much that we have had it for over 10 years. Both my wife and I admittedly are computer illiterate. So, when we first purchased the Mac we asked Apple to suggest someone to help. Thus started our love affair with Ron Gehrmann. Not only did he set us up with everything we needed, but explained in layman’s terms how everything worked and why we needed what. No matter what the problem(s), (usually caused by us), Ron was quick to respond and quickly set us straight. We were concerned when he moved to Portland, Oregon two years ago but find there is no interruption in his service when using a remote screen sharing program. In fact, just earlier in the week he was able to undo a mess caused by my 19-month-old grand son who decided his new favorite toy was my keyboard. That’s Ronald to a T and it’s how he has always been through the many years I’ve worked with him. (I’ve seen some technicians make things worse as they go along and had to call them back over and over to redo what they were supposed to fix.) He does it right, keeps going until he’s sure it’ll work perfectly so you don’t have to call him back for the same problem. He’s a hardworking guy who does his best to make sure you’re happy each and every time.
I was further impressed when he helped me with my camera and photos. He never gave up, solving my problems step by step until everything worked beautifully – not to mention finding ways to reduce waste and save memory. I miss that I can’t have him over to the house to watch him do his magic but he’s a whiz at working remotely since he left NYC. I have complete confidence in his ability to solve any problem on my iMac. Plus, he has great "bedside manner." Dreams come true!
I use everything Apple: iMac, MacBook, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple watch, Apple TV... I am comfortable with but cannot say I have complete command of any of these communications vehicles. Everyone in the family uses Apple exclusively. My daughter is proficient. My son-in-law worked at an Apple Store for 3 years.
But I've needed someone outside of the family to help me when I'm confounded and especially in emergencies. Applecare is great. The Genius Bar has often been invaluable. Most importantly finally I've finally found the guru I've so badly needed for years who works in my home setting. No dragging equipment to an Apple store or waiting in line on the phone.
Ronald came to my house once and learned about my devices in person. Now we work remotely. This week I needed assistance getting my iPhone ready for an extended vacation in Spain. Concerned with the 27,000 photos on my phone I wanted to be certain I would not run out of room while traveling. Suddenly a more important issue arose. While doing an everyday Lightroom procedure I inadvertently trashed my picture files and many non-contiguous photos "disappeared". I was scared, as was Ronald, that restoring the proper files would either be impossible or very difficult. However, in just a few minutes, using my back up hard drive as a model everything was copacetic. It was like my faux pas had never happened. It's wonderful to have a miracle maker on your team.

I could not be more impressed
Last weekend I thought I lost years of photos from my last two computers. I hadn't backed up properly and it seemed that I might have made a fatal mistake while trying to move thousands of photos to an external hard drive. I was crestfallen. We started working with Ronald in 2007. He's been solving all our Mac issues ever since. We're a small business so downtime or misbehaving computers are not an option. A seamless changeover from PC to Mac
It’s been nearly a year since I bought my new Apple computer and hired Metro MacSupport to help me set up that new computer, take the old one down, get all the new software and programs up and running, set up the new hard drive for automatic file backups with Time Machine, and transfer bookmarks and files from my old one (which was a PC that was running XP—yes, a dinosaur in computing terms, I know, which goes to show you how averse I am to technological change) to the new one.
I’m not exactly computer-phobic, as I’ve been using computers since the early 1980s. I have my comfort-level limits, though. Yes, I might have been able to research and figure out how to do all of these things on my own, but I can guarantee you that I would have been tied up in knots with anxiety the whole time! Metro MacSupport was a voice of calm and confidence from the moment I contacted them with questions about changing over from PC to Mac and about what features and configuration I might want my new computer to have. They understood everything I wanted my new computer to be able to do and how I needed it to function for me, as a freelance writer and semi-professional genealogist, and for my family members who sometimes also use the computer.
The last time I’d purchased a new computer and hired someone to help me set it up, I’d had minor glitches of one kind or another occur for weeks afterward, so I anticipated this as being another big headache—but, with the help of Metro MacSupport, this time the process went WAY, WAY more smoothly than I had even hoped or expected that it would. In the months since they helped me get my new iMac up and running, I’ve had a few occasions to e-mail or call for further advice, and they’ve always been prompt, helpful and encouraging. Painless migration to Lightroom
Even though I am in London and Ronald is eight hours behind me in Oregon, working with him via Team Viewer and Skype was no problem at all; in fact using Team Viewer is much easier than having two people trying to work at the same desk, and with Ronald it was a pleasure. He managed my transition from Aperture to Lightroom in a masterly fashion, which I could never have done on my own, showed me all sorts of useful techniques in LR, particularly how to import photos, and also streamlined my file structures and backup process for the whole computer. He has kept in touch to make sure that all is working well which makes a big difference. The whole thing was very enjoyable and I am looking forward to working with him in the future.

I have been working with Ronald since January 2015. We have been working remotely using TeamViewer and Skype. Working remotely was much easier than I thought it would be, and has proven to be incredibly cost and time effective. Ronald helped me use iPhoto Library Manager to delete duplicate photos, upgrade my operating system to Yosemite, and set up Time Machine to backup to an external drive. Ronald also helped me migrate my photos from iPhoto to Lightroom. Thanks to Ronald's help, the migration from iPhoto to Lightroom was easier than I expected. Ronald Gehrmann will not only save your bacon, he will save your sanity. He has done so, more than once, for me.
I am a reasonably sophisticated computer user (going back to the days when commands were strings of letters) but problems connected with the installation of a new wireless printer had me ready to return to a quill pen. A house call from Ronald made all things harmonious -- not only painlessly, but pleasantly. When he was here, he did more than link the printer to the network -- he added controls to both the computer and a tablet to make the printing go seamlessly. Along the way, he showed me how to do several useful things unrelated to the main goal.
Later he came to my rescue again -- this time remotely, taking over my computer with a program I had asked him to install -- to resurrect a printer that I use only to print high quality photographs. The whole setup now works painlessly. He also installed a recalcitrant app on my tablet by syncing it through the main computer.
Ronald knows an enormous amount, is a gifted teacher and a thorough professional, and is very pleasant company, whether in person or on the other end of a telephone line.

I’ve been working with Ronald for over two years. I was new to Apple MacBook Pro and with time I added other Apple products – iPad, iPhone and iPod.
For many folks of a certain age like me, the computer is an indomitable set of questions and a total fear that I will do something that will crash the computer and everything will be lost. Ronald has provided an immeasurable amount of help and support. He did the set up and the linking of all of my devices and printers. When I have a problem, he is always available in less than 24 hours whether in person, on the phone or with something called TeamViewer, which allows him to see what is happening on my computer in real time. He is patient and always willing to talk me through whatever questions or technology questions I have, and there are many. He has helped me to learn how to download music, movies and TV shows. He has also been patient when taking me through setting up files, organizing email files and troubleshooting when I do something really dumb.
Ronald was also incredibly helpful in helping me to create, set-up and maintain a website. No only did we do much of it together, much more on his part, but he also did much of it on his own time.
Ronald provides excellent hands-on learning, but is willing to repeat or find another way to explain something, just in case I didn’t get it the first time. Ronald restored my sanity
For several months my experience with an old iMac, and recently a new iMac, has been an agonizing and frustrating one while attempting to complete a book I am writing. Perfect way of learning how to use your various Apple devices productively

It has been ten years since I first met and began to work with Ron. He has helped me build and maintain a website to showcase my photography using both Apple and Adobe products. It would be an understatement for me to say he’s a genius who knows his way around these products, and how to deal with the simple-minded mistakes I always seem to perplex myself with, but are a piece of cake for him to figure out.
In the years I have known him he has patiently guided me through computer hardware upgrades, operating system upgrades, and application upgrades, as well as helping me with data backup systems. With remote screen sharing software and with my permission he can view and control my computer while talking to me on Skype, leaving my hands free to work on my end as well. This way we have together solved dozens of problems I have gotten myself into over the years.
Ron’s willingness to help and genuine concern for, as well as respect for me and my passion for photography, makes him a one-of-a-kind asset who is absolutely an invaluable resource for me to call upon in need. Over the years he has become a friend as well, and that more than anything is important to me and gives me the peace of mind to pursue my own passion without the extensive technical knowledge I would otherwise have to acquire. Ronald Gehrmann has been an incredible help to me as a relatively new Mac user. We've worked together since Sept. of '09 and he's knowledgeable, patient, fast, creative, conscientious and a whole list of other superlatives.
Truly, he's the best IT tech person I've had the opportunity to work with. He's helped me with MobileMe, iCloud, photos, passwords, computer set-up, software, etc. Initially, we worked in person in New York, but as I live in California, we've been working remotely through TeamViewer, which has been incredible.
I recommend him whole-heartedly!

Top Notch Support and Service!!!
Before Ronald entered our lives, we had one PC, two ipads, two iphones, a wireless printer, apple TV... and no idea how to work any of them!! Within two hours, Ronald had our apple TV up and running, our new printer installed and printing wirelessly from our iphones, all our software on all our devices updated, all our devices synched, a wireless connection, finally, in our home office and more. Our next steps - getting another Mac, getting our calendars and contacts onto icloud, and organizing our crazy lives through the power of technology will definitely be under Ronald's tutelage. User friendly does not adequately describe how easy he is to work with. Beyond updating our system, he also educates us in new apps that would interest us based on our current usage. I found Ronald through the Apple Consultant network in May, 2008. He was such a "find" and I, and anyone I referred to Ronald is extremely happy and very lucky to have the opportunity to work with him and learn from him. He is the extremely nice, totally knowledgeable about Apple Products and very trustworthy. Ronald is extremely organized. I have worked with him in person and over remote. He has helped with setting up mac and iPads as well as photo programs and iTunes. (By the way, he is a very accomplished photographer.) He is very responsive to my calls and always available to arrange times to meet. Over the years, Ronald has helped me with my various Macs and I pad and I couldn't do all this without his help. Concise, precise, capable service -- friendly -- for amateur user
Can you recall the thrill of accomplishing something you never thought possible, like a pro? Thanks to a dear friend, who gifted me with four hours of remote tutoring sessions with Ronald Gehrmann over the phone, I have a totally different view of what I think my MacBook Pro can do.
I no longer fear the computer -- Ronald gave me the insights to use the Mac, like I use the phone, a tool that is of value to me: Not an expensive accessory that is only used for email. I was very skeptical, about anyone being able to teach me anything over the phone, being south of 60, and stymied by the VCR of the past days.
What a surprise to find an expert who shares what you need to use your computer for what you want and then some. The best compliment I can truly offer, is the bottom line, after the gift of four hours, I signed up for four more on my own and will so continue.
If you think you knew the Mac, or have questions, I don't think you could find a more informative teacher who shares his passion and fun, while guiding you through the many ins/outs, and other magic about your Mac.
The value of Ronald's expertise is to give you the ability to use the computer in the way you need and realize the most unexpected "Aha" moments that you never thought possible. It's no longer a frustrating mystery that defeats me, it's a new adventure with endless opportunities. And I did not think that was possible.
We've been working together since May 2009, and although I live in the West and Ronald is located in NYC, we work together via remote screen sharing. Remote support enabled me to make the decision to buy my iPad 2 and transition much easier, as well as ongoing support for my MacBook Pro.

This consultant was reliable, available and offered great one on one service
Ron works on site and has set up screen sharing which really saves time. He rescues me when there are immediate problems to solve and he can't physically be on site. He has helped me organize fonts and created back-up computer systems on external HDs that contain many large photographic files of great value. He has migrated data from my old Mac to my new with consistently reliable results. He has troubleshooted for my printers and organized all the external plugs so that they are accessible and labeled correctly. He has also weeded out all old hardware once removed from my old computer.

Ronald is above and beyond...an excellent communicator as well as a superb technician.
I have owned Macs since the 1980s and I have worked with Ronald Gehrmann for nine years since moving to the northeast. To date, we have covered many Mac operations including upgrading my equipment multiple times, program installations and upgrades, troubleshooting, creating signage, developing spreadsheets, working with photographs and photo storage and, recently, movies. In all tutorials, Ronald is highly creative as well as efficient and practical. When time is short, this is a greatly appreciated combination.
In the early years, I'd experienced a number of frustrations with my Mac products, but with patience and perseverance, Ronald brought me though. For the last several years, it has been smooth sailing. The current systems are running beautifully. Should i have a problem, Ronald is a remote connection away. Should I need to purchase something, he helps identify what would be the best product for my situation.
When we work together, Ronald will often identify the next step I will need to make what I just learned even more useful. Or, he will back track and upgrade so that what we are doing will have a better quality system supporting the new effort.

I engaged Ronald as a consultant when we both lived in the same city (New York), more than two years ago. Since then I have moved to Chicago and the consulting relationship continues to work as seamlessly as before. Ronald's wonderful to work with, particularly if you're a photographer
I engaged Ronald for a tutoring session at home, and it was a revelation. He quickly transferred files from a recent shoot to Lightroom, then patiently and clearly walked me through all the cataloguing and editing tools in the program. For the first time, I really understood how to use it.
Ronald is not only a computer wiz and a good teacher, but also an excellent photographer. That made working with him great fun because we had one language in common. I highly recommend him, and know I'll be calling on him again when I make the next move, into Photoshop.
My favorite session was the two hours we spent setting up a website so I can showcase my photos. He set it up and patiently taught me how to use it, something I could never, never have done on my own. I'm thrilled with the reaction I get from people who now see my work online.

Extremely pleased with this consultant in all respects
This consultant advised me on the purchase of a laptop and printer to replace outdated ones. He then set them up, along with an external hard drive and an airport. He also transferred all my files. He was obviously technologically savvy but was wonderfully patient with my questions. He was efficient without seeming rushed. I felt extremely comfortable with him and was struck by how happy and excited he seemed for me! Though I have used a computer for many years, I was overwhelmed at the idea of purchasing and setting up new equipment and this consultant was a godsend who successfully launched me a bit further into this world. I expect to call upon him many times in the future as I run into problems, as I have no one nearby to problem solve. I believe I have found in him the perfect solution to my technological anxieties!

A user-friendly consultant
Ronald has been consulting about my iMacs, iPhone, iPods, and iPad for almost 4 years. I don't know where I'd be without him (probably I'd have given up by now and gone back to a typewriter, transistor radio, and adding machine). He has set up new devices, suggested helpful hardware and software, and fixed numerous problems--problems attributable to me and problems attributable to the machines. Ronald is very flexible; he has come to my office, worked on my computer remotely, and answered questions over the phone and by email. He is always polite and respectful no matter how dumb my mistakes are or how elementary my knowledge of computers. I know that Ronald's rates are higher than those of many other consultants, but I have worked with other consultants, and believe me, Ronald is a bargain because he works more quickly and does it right the first time. I've been working with Ronald since I bought my first Mac, over eight years ago. He's always there for me. Initially, when he lived in New Hampshire, we worked together at my home. Now, we work remotely using screen sharing, which is just as good as sitting side by side in person. If I ever have a question and email Ronald, he gets right back to me, even if he's traveling abroad. I feel like Ronald is my technology safety net. This consultant is terrific
I've been working with Ronald Gehrmann at Metro MacSupport for the past two years — from initial setup with new equipment (computer, printer, scanner, etc.), to tutorials around new programs (Pages), to trouble shooting a variety of issues as they have come up, to starting a blog. About half of this was done face to face, with the rest done remotely. In both instances we were able to get the job done quickly, effectively, and efficiently.
