General help for small office
Having computer/technology problems is an incredibly frustrating and panic-inducing experience. However, one positive thing does come about from this, and that is getting to spend time with Ronald Gehrmann!
What a treat it is to work with Ron. Not only is he an absolute genius, fixing each and every issue that is thrown his way, but he is a bright and cheery presence at all times. Aside from being brilliant behind a computer, he is also an incredible (and patient!) teacher. Rather than simply fixing things, he goes out of his way to show you how to solve these problems when they come up again.
His patience for even the most technologically impaired person (exhibit A - me), is extraordinary, making your experience in front of the computer one of calm and confidence, rather than anxiety and uncertainty. Lightroom tutoring
I engaged Ronald for a tutoring session at home, and it was a revelation. He quickly transferred files from a recent shoot to Lightroom, then patiently and clearly walked me through all the cataloguing and editing tools in the program. For the first time, I really understood how to use it.
Ronald is not only a computer wiz and a good teacher, but also an excellent photographer. That made working with him great fun because we had one language in common. I highly recommend him, and know I'll be calling on him again when I make the next move, into Photoshop.

Can you recall the thrill of accomplishing something you never thought possible, like a pro? Thanks to a dear friend, who gifted me with four hours of remote tutoring sessions with Ronald Gehrmann over the phone, I have a totally different view of what I think my MacBook Pro can do.
I no longer fear the computer — Ronald gave me the insights to use the Mac, like I use the phone, a tool that is of value to me: Not an expensive accessory that is only used for email. I was very skeptical, about anyone being able to teach me anything over the phone, being south of 60, and stymied by the VCR of the past days.
What a surprise to find an expert who shares what you need to use your computer for what you want and then some. The best compliment I can truly offer, is the bottom line, after the gift of four hours, I signed up for four more on my own and will so continue.

Ronald was easy to contact, and followed up with us accordingly. Shortly, we set up an appointment for him to visit our office, and set up our new iMac system. Ronald arrived on time, with a great, positive attitude, and tons of knowledge to share. He spent about three hours with me, in-house, explaining every single step he took from unpacking the new computer, to setting it up, transferring files, and updating to new versions of my Adobe Creative Suite design software.
He was extremely helpful in filling me in on everything he was taking care of, but also shared certain steps and shortcuts along the way that had already become extremely helpful in a matter of minutes! From the moment he left me, everything was running smoothly, and faster than I’d seen in almost three years. Today, I actually used Ronald’s help in installing a new version of some older software that wasn't on hand the first time he was in our office. He quickly connected to my computer via TeamViewer, and simultaneouslywalked me through all steps over the phone. We were done and taken care of in just about a half-hour.
Working with Ronald has been such a pleasure, and I am very happy you have introduced us to his assistance. I am sure he will be most helpful to us in the future as our business grows, and our software changes and upgrades. Ron moved me from stressed out to happy. He installed WiFi and connected that to my stereo as well as the printers and computers. He managed to move my AOL email contacts to Gmail which another IT professional was unable to do. This wasn't easy, but he found a way to jump all of the hurdles. He connected the G-Drive Mini for backup.
He gave me positive thoughts on keeping my old QuickBooks business accounting on my old computer and gave me a cable to connect that to my old backup device. He recognized when I had a software CD that was not up-to-date, such as for the printer, and downloaded the current version. He worked fast. No chit-chat. Just very to-the-point and professional.
I feel blessed that the Apple Store recommended Ron to me. I don't think help comes in a better form than Ron Gehrmann.

Windows-to-Mac migration
I'm old enough to remember typing with carbon paper, so I've been Windows-based since the dawn of time, and that's the type of technological trap I was stuck in with Microsoft. I finally bit the bullet and bought an iMac, and asked for a recommendation for someone who could move me from the Dark Ages to the 21st Century with no pain and only gain. Apple recommended Ronald and he was my deliverer.
Ronald did it all — from archaeology (to unearth the years of wires to nowhere underneath my desk), housekeeping (to clean the mountains of dust balls), educator (on how to use a Mac), psychologist (in assuring me the Mac was easy — it was and is), and Zen master (as he patiently waited 90 minutes for Windows to back up my 1200 iTunes songs, which Ronald transferred to my iMac in 3 minutes!).
Without Ronald, I would have taken the iMac out of the box, banged my head against the wall in frustration, and probably would have returned to my Windows prison. With him, I have been freed of the Microsoft monster, and tasks that used to be hair-tearing are now ones I look forward to doing in the Apple environment.
In sum, hiring Ronald was a godsend, as he made the shift from Microsoft to Apple — which appeared to me as a ticket to disaster and personal torture — pain-free, easy, and, in today's argot, simply "awesome." I would heartily recommend Ronald to anyone who needs to make the escape from Microsoft.

Getting started with the Mac
I called Ronald Gehrmann at the suggestion of my son who is also a Mac owner. I was planning on returning to graduate school after a 40-year hiatus and was clueless as to how to word process and was more nervous about dealing with that than going back to school.
From the very first session, Ronald showed me how to deal with some of the things that were concerning me — very directly and patiently. After every session he left a "cheat sheet" which I could refer to for practicing what we had covered in the session. If I had any questions he always called back promptly.
He also helped me with other issues that came up along the way, like saving information and shortcuts for cutting, pasting and copying. His patience was tested to the max with my very temperamental printer, which he whipped into shape without ever losing his cool. Ronald also set up TeamViewer on my computer. In the event I had a problem I couldn't work out on my own, he was able to get into my computer from his computer to show me how to work it out. Amazing!
I am now looking forward to working with Ronald again in order to use the computer for more enjoyable pursuits like digital photography and organizing family photos.
I can say without hesitation that I recommend Ronald to anyone who needs to learn anything about the Mac. It is so reassuring to now know that I can call or email Ronald when I have a problem with my Mac.

General Mac tips & productivity tutoring
I couldn’t wait to get out of bed this morning to play with all the “goodies” Ronald taught me during our, all too brief, 3-hour session.
While I had some Mac knowledge, I really was a novice. Not anymore! Ronald's patience level is “awesome!” and by the time he left me, I felt comfortable working on my own.
The shortcuts I was taught are, forever, emblazoned on my “frontal lobe.”
I am creating a Family Chronology through photos and had pictures all over my computer and on three memory sticks. In just a short time, with Ronald’s help, I was able to sort through all the photos and organize them into proper order.
My next adventure with Ronald will be learning the basics of Photoshop. Once I have mastered them, I will be ready for his expertise to teach me the “tricks.” I wish I were a sponge so I could “sop” up everything he says.

iPhone sync troubleshooting
I can't tell you what a pleasure it was to work with Ronald the very first time! I had struggled with a thorny problem of synching my iPhone and calender/contacts and was in despair. I am not computer literate and my exposure to a PC was limited to sending simple emails and occasionally searching in Google. My PC was old and started to freeze at the most inopportune moments, so I decided to make the leap to an iMac upon advice from my 15-year-old son who lives with an iBook on his lap.

He worked very hard doing data migration from my old 2001 iMac, he downloaded software and upgrades, he set up my old scanner and printer, and new scanner/printer/copier, he set up my digital camera — and best of all, he showed me how to use everything! In the little time we had spent together, I even got a superb crash course in all the peripherals I had.
Ron is the nicest guy...he was extremely understanding and empathetic to my technophobia. He solved every problem I had. When he left, I had the feeling that anytime I called, my call would be welcomed, and Ron would be happy to help again with any and all computer needs I have. He's truly knowledgeable, and I would not hesitate to call him again if I set up wireless or anything else, or need a tutorial in anything. Ron has helped me feel more comfortable with computers and computer problems.

Just like the best internist, Ronald was able to investigate and interpret the innards of my two drives. For about the last year and a half my daughter had extreme difficulty in accessing the internet on the iMac I bought her. It was extremely slow, the signal was too weak and she kept losing the internet connection. I bought an expensive antenna-looking device I found on the internet to no avail. I hired a local man who advertised Apple expertise, but despite his being a nice and caring guy, and spending a lot of time in my house (for which he was paid), nothing was any better. I bought an AirPort Express to extend the range of the main base station but as I am completely unhandy when it comes to computers, after a few minutes of dealing with the confusing directions and questions, I gave up as I was unable to get the network to work.
With my daughter and myself utterly frustrated, my last hope was to go to your store and ask for a referral for someone who could deal with this mess. I was given the name of Ronald Gehrmann. What a stroke of luck! He came to our house and took care of everything. Here was someone who was professional, thorough, incredibly knowledgeable and undaunted by the difficulties he encountered in trying to get everything back in order. Each time he would say something was odd or that this was the first time he saw something like this, my frustration level would begin to rise. But then methodically, step-by-step, he would proceed to solve the problem and get rid of the difficulty and my frustration.
It's been three weeks and everything has been working perfectly, at the strongest signal level. After a year and a half of only being able to use her computer as a word processor, my daughter is now happily navigating the internet and hasn't had a single problem since Ronald's visit. He even had the courtesy to follow-up to make sure everything was OK.
I would highly recommend Ronald to anyone with computer difficulties, especially those who know little about computers. Rather than drowning me in computer talk and concepts which I would not understand, he guided my daughter and me through the entire process while taking care of every bug and problem. Ron moved me from stressed out to happy. He installed WiFi and connected that to my stereo as well as the printers and computers. He managed to move my AOL email contacts to Gmail which another IT professional was unable to do. This wasn't easy, but he found a way to jump all of the hurdles. He connected the G-Drive Mini for backup.
He gave me positive thoughts on keeping my old QuickBooks business accounting on my old computer and gave me a cable to connect that to my old backup device. He recognized when I had a software CD that was not up-to-date, such as for the printer, and downloaded the current version. He worked fast. No chit-chat. Just very to-the-point and professional.
I feel blessed that the Apple Store recommended Ron to me. I don't think help comes in a better form than Ron Gehrmann.

Windows-to-Mac migration
I'm old enough to remember typing with carbon paper, so I've been Windows-based since the dawn of time, and that's the type of technological trap I was stuck in with Microsoft. I finally bit the bullet and bought an iMac, and asked for a recommendation for someone who could move me from the Dark Ages to the 21st Century with no pain and only gain. Apple recommended Ronald and he was my deliverer.
Ronald did it all — from archaeology (to unearth the years of wires to nowhere underneath my desk), housekeeping (to clean the mountains of dust balls), educator (on how to use a Mac), psychologist (in assuring me the Mac was easy — it was and is), and Zen master (as he patiently waited 90 minutes for Windows to back up my 1200 iTunes songs, which Ronald transferred to my iMac in 3 minutes!).
Without Ronald, I would have taken the iMac out of the box, banged my head against the wall in frustration, and probably would have returned to my Windows prison. With him, I have been freed of the Microsoft monster, and tasks that used to be hair-tearing are now ones I look forward to doing in the Apple environment.
In sum, hiring Ronald was a godsend, as he made the shift from Microsoft to Apple — which appeared to me as a ticket to disaster and personal torture — pain-free, easy, and, in today's argot, simply "awesome." I would heartily recommend Ronald to anyone who needs to make the escape from Microsoft.

Getting started with the Mac
I called Ronald Gehrmann at the suggestion of my son who is also a Mac owner. I was planning on returning to graduate school after a 40-year hiatus and was clueless as to how to word process and was more nervous about dealing with that than going back to school.
From the very first session, Ronald showed me how to deal with some of the things that were concerning me — very directly and patiently. After every session he left a "cheat sheet" which I could refer to for practicing what we had covered in the session. If I had any questions he always called back promptly.
He also helped me with other issues that came up along the way, like saving information and shortcuts for cutting, pasting and copying. His patience was tested to the max with my very temperamental printer, which he whipped into shape without ever losing his cool. Ronald also set up TeamViewer on my computer. In the event I had a problem I couldn't work out on my own, he was able to get into my computer from his computer to show me how to work it out. Amazing!

I am not computer literate and my exposure to a PC was limited to sending simple emails and occasionally searching in Google. I purchased an iMac desktop from you on April 30, 2009 and asked the person who was helping me to recommend someone that could come to my home, transfer my PC information and set up my new system. I am an older person, and until 5 years ago, didn't even know how to turn on a computer — as my work did not require computer knowledge.
Ronald Gehrmann of Metro MacSupport was suggested to me. From the first call, which he responded to immediately, to the pleasant, non-condescending manner he had, to the effectiveness of his work — he was terrific. He is effective and accomplished everything that I had requested he do. For a company that values customer service so highly, I thought it important that you know that Ronald is a great representative for Apple. And what an enthusiast! I've had my iMac for 24 hours and know that I will be delighted with my change.

As a new Mac user, I knew nothing about Macs and was a bit intimidated by them. Ronald came over and he was so helpful! He was very nice and put me at ease immediately. He went right to work transferring my photos, music and documents from my PC over to my new MacBook. And he made good use of time, too. I recently purchased an iPhone from your store and needed to switch from Palm Desktop to iCal and Address Book.
Ronald was readily available and adjusted to my schedule and met me at my home to work on my desktop Mac. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Macs. He completed the data migration and instructed me about the use of my new applications. He offered suggestions to help me manage my work faster and more efficiently. I particularly appreciated his "Mac Cheat Sheet" which he made and left with me at the end of our session. He also set up a program called TeamViewer so we could continue to work together remotely as needed.
His fee was reasonable and worth every penny to get me started using my iPhone and multiple applications. I know this saved me hours of frustration of trying to figure it out myself.

Having just recently made the momentous transition from the old Dell laptop and Microsoft Windows, I was truly at a loss. I just wanted to drop a line to thank Tekserve for putting me in contact with Ronald Gehrmann to set up my iMac. I bought the iMac seven months ago and didn't hook it up until the other day, due to inertia and my being technophobic. Fortunately, Ron came over and set up everything!
Had I known it would be this comfortable and easy, I'd have called Ron months ago. He worked very hard doing data migration from my old 2001 iMac, he downloaded software and upgrades, he set up my old scanner and printer, and new scanner/printer/copier, he set up my digital camera — and best of all, he showed me how to use everything! In the little time we had spent together, I even got a superb crash course in all the peripherals I had.
Ron is the nicest guy...he was extremely understanding and empathetic to my technophobia. He solved every problem I had. When he left, I had the feeling that anytime I called, my call would be welcomed, and Ron would be happy to help again with any and all computer needs I have. He's truly knowledgeable, and I would not hesitate to call him again if I set up wireless or anything else, or need a tutorial in anything. Ron has helped me feel more comfortable with computers and computer problems.

Not only was he able to transfer and convert those awful WordPerfect files over to my MacBook Pro, but he also organized everything very clearly including lots of photos as well as my files. I want to thank you so much for bringing my computers up to date by installing 10.4.11 and putting in a few other items. You are a whiz! Talk about multitasking! You were quick and efficient and knew at every moment exactly what you were doing. (Can’t say the same for me as I watched you go through your stuff.) Things are working fine — even my very old applications from system 9 — I’ve been able to print from my old Microsoft Works 3.0, Now Up-to-Date, Printshop, Quickdex and a few others. I’m so glad you recommended that I get the Iomega portable 160 GB drive. I spoke to you this morning, frantically seeking a "fix" for my computer ills, and after briefly describing the symptoms, you recommended Guru Ronald Gehrmann, the healer. You're a genius and so is he.
As for the outcome...
Just like the best internist, Ronald was able to investigate and interpret the innards of my two drives. Found his way among the clutter of trivia and necessity and isolated the boo-boo to perform the operation. It was awesome! He pushed and prodded, tested and examined and healed, and it was all done in three quarters of an hour! Not to say that it was easy and uncomplicated; it wasn't. The trouble was nicely hidden, but Ronald found it anyway. I am so impressed!!
This amazing fellow should be cloned for all the world of suffering computerites to have and to hold.
I'm hoping he remains healthy, in good spirits, and available come fall when I intend to upgrade my miserable, tortuous hardware and all that goes with. He's a gem!

We are writing to thank you for the referral that you gave us this past week to Mac computer consultant, Ronald Gehrmann. We are regular Tekserve customers and we called for urgently needed help re: document design, cross-platform document transmission difficulties and a raft of other issues.
Prior to calling Ronald, we were frustrated by our inability to solve a whole range of computer problems, problems which often resulted from or were exacerbated by our own inexperience (and lack of facility) with computers. We work with words for a living but we're not technically minded and, like many of our friends, we've spent a fair share of our time listening to Soft Rock while on hold on various companies' tech help lines.
So, for us, it's a godsend to have found Mr. Gehrmann. His two-hour session with us was extremely productive and, of course, as our session was over and our immediate problems were solved we asked him about all of the other computer challenges we face (Internet hook-up and speed, cleaning up files, importing and working with images from the web, etc.); he can address those and a host of other challenges, as well.
We found him, in the work session at our home, to have impressive expertise, a sophisticated eye, and, also rare, a gift for HUMAN COMMUNICATION. He's a smart, talented, down-to-earth, and genuinely nice person. We thought you'd want to know even though we send this note with some trepidation; we hope that he doesn't get too booked up because we still need plenty of his time.

For about the last year and a half my daughter had extreme difficulty in accessing the internet on the iMac I bought her. It was extremely slow, the signal was too weak and she kept losing the internet connection. I bought an expensive antenna-looking device I found on the internet to no avail. I hired a local man who advertised Apple expertise, but despite his being a nice and caring guy, and spending a lot of time in my house (for which he was paid), nothing was any better. I bought an AirPort Express to extend the range of the main base station but as I am completely unhandy when it comes to computers, after a few minutes of dealing with the confusing directions and questions, I gave up as I was unable to get the network to work.
With my daughter and myself utterly frustrated, my last hope was to go to your store and ask for a referral for someone who could deal with this mess. I was given the name of Ronald Gehrmann. What a stroke of luck! He came to our house and took care of everything. Here was someone who was professional, thorough, incredibly knowledgeable and undaunted by the difficulties he encountered in trying to get everything back in order. Each time he would say something was odd or that this was the first time he saw something like this, my frustration level would begin to rise. But then methodically, step-by-step, he would proceed to solve the problem and get rid of the difficulty and my frustration.
It's been three weeks and everything has been working perfectly, at the strongest signal level. After a year and a half of only being able to use her computer as a word processor, my daughter is now happily navigating the internet and hasn't had a single problem since Ronald's visit. He even had the courtesy to follow-up to make sure everything was OK.
I would highly recommend Ronald to anyone with computer difficulties, especially those who know little about computers. Rather than drowning me in computer talk and concepts which I would not understand, he guided my daughter and me through the entire process while taking care of every bug and problem. After nearly 20 years of happy times with Macs, I tend to think "all will be well," and it usually is. But then when you're not expecting, stuff goes crazy — this time, no sound and a bunch of other puzzling annoyances.
As someone who reads the manual (and the "Missing Manuals") I can often fix things, but after a lot of poking around I became convinced it was a hardware failure and I needed a new sound chip — and two other Mac-expert friends agreed.
